Emotional intelligence is a superpower

Emotional intelligence is a superpower of women leaders - but how can they use it at work?

Zurich (Switzerland) — November 2026

Emotional intelligence -- the ability to recognize, reason with, and regulate emotions in oneself and others -- helps leaders stay calm under pressure, inspire with empathy, and lead through uncertainty. Our research shows that women often score higher in emotional intelligence, and that these abilities are vital to leadership in our rapidly changing world.

At Faurecia’s RISE program in beautiful Paris 🇫🇷, I had the privilege of working with an extraordinary group of women leaders to explore how emotional intelligence can empower their leadership journeys. Together, we reflected on what we can 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭, what we can 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, and what lies beyond our reach -- and how focusing on the first two areas of life restores agency, builds confidence, and boosts leadership success.

➡️ Emotional intelligence begins with awareness -- noticing how we feel, why we feel that way, and how these feelings impact us.
➡️ Emotional intelligence grows with agency -- identifying how we wish to feel, what needs to change to get there, and taking small, deliberate steps in that direction.
➡️ Emotional intelligence scales with leadership -- learning how empathy turns into influence, how emotions drive results, and how results carry emotional meaning.

Grateful to the inspiring women of Faurecia’s RISE program for your openness, strength, and vision. Paris was a fitting backdrop – what an amazing city for a workshop about leading with heart and insight!
