CAS Medical Leadership Programme

CAS Medical Leadership Programme

Zurich (Switzerland) — 10 April 2026

In healthcare, leadership makes a big difference. Outcomes are shaped by expertise, yes -- but also by how experts lead:
– how they communicate under pressure
– how they make decisions in uncertainty
– how they create trust in moments of fear
– how they help others stay focused, calm, and hopeful

Leadership, in this as in any context, means working with emotions -- not against them. It means understanding how people want to feel at work -- e.g., valued, respected, empowered -- and creating the conditions for those feelings to occur more often.

➡️ The best healthcare leaders don’t just treat patients.
They shape the emotional culture in which care happens.
➡️ They don’t just manage processes.
They mobilize people around a shared purpose: patients first.
➡️ And they know: in critical moments, people, not protocols, make all the difference.

I had the privilege of working with doctors and healthcare professionals in our CAS Medical Leadership programme at the Executive Education Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Fakultät at the University of Zurich. My sincere thanks to all participants for their commitment to improving healthcare through better leadership!
